7 Feb 2023The Northern Districts community team celebrated success on Thursday night at the 2022 Waikato Sport and Activation Recreation Awards with our SuperSmash Hubs picking up the Outstanding Active Space Initiative.
The achievement recognises any programme where a space such as a community hall of local park has been used to keep people active. Across the Waikato region, Northern Districts ran Super Smash Hubs across 19 locations for close to 700 tamariki.
“This award confirms what we had believed for the past three years, that we have an engaging, affordable and adaptive programme that our participants and parents are loving,” said Northern Districts CEO Ben MacCormack.
“We will see over 1500 kids this summer in this entry level programme draped in our gender neutral and inclusive brand the Northern Brave.
A huge thanks to Sport Waikato, Matthew Cooper and team for being BRAVE enough to change, pushing sport in this part of our region to think differently and recognising community initiatives over team performances.”
