With a new name comes a new captain as Jeet Raval will lead the new look Northern Brave Men for the first time in this year’s Dream11 Super Smash. Raval says he’s excited to lead the boys.
“[I’m] very excited and obviously honoured and privileged to lead this new Northern Brave T20 side. I’m just thrilled and looking forward to this Super Smash campaign.”
He says the team has a number of experienced campaigners he can lean on for advice.
“I think we’ve got a really good bunch of guys and some experienced guys who have played all around the world. Guys like Colin de Grandhomme, Tim Seifert, Ish Sodhi, Scott Kuggeleijn so there’s a lot of experience in the group. It’s about a collective effort.”
The experienced batsman made the move down from Auckland last summer and has already made his impact at Northern Districts. He was awarded the Daniel Vettori Medal for Male Player of the Year for the 2020/21 season. Head Coach Graeme Aldridge says the left hander wasted no time in leaving his mark on the group.
“He very quickly became a leader. [It] started with performances, leading with his performances.”
Northern Districts made history last month becoming the first major association to have their men’s and women’s side play under the same name and brand. Raval says everyone is fully behind the rebrand.
“It’s a great concept and the boys are loving getting behind the Brave brand.”
“Super Smash is an awesome time of the year where everyone gets excited, families and kids can come and be a part of this great concept. Hopefully it’s a good campaign for us.”
Northern Brave get their Super Smash campaign underway tomorrow night when they take on the Otago Sparks and Volts at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
