Our Northern District’s Men went down by four wickets to the Auckland Aces late into day four in a thrilling Plunket Shield encounter.
The Aces almost missed out on the opportunity to take the win as umpires halted play when the scores were level due to bad light. This also came after the first sessions on day three and four were both washed out.
Some key performances from our lads include Mitch Santner and Brett Randell both scoring half centuries on day one, it was the latter’s second in as many innings in the competition. Tim Southee picked up his 10th first class five wicket bag on day two when we finished with figures of 5-39. Jeet Raval also passed 8000 first class runs when he reached 30 in our second innings.
Our men will now shift their focus to this weekend where they will host the Wellington Firebirds in the Ford Trophy at Seddon Park.
